After the extreme actions of Greece, the problem of the continental shelf and islands in the Aegean Sea came to the fore again. Taner Keleş, Bursa Provincial Deputy Chairman of the Saadet Party, who issued a press release on the subject, made important statements. Taner Keleş stated that the solutions brought by Milli Görüş leader Prof. Dr. Necmettin Erbakan Hodja on the issue could solve the problem radically and pointed to international law.
"SHOULD GIVE AN ANSWER WITH THE SAME STIFFNESS"
Making special statements in his press release, Saadet Party Bursa Provincial Chairman Taner Keleş said, “The boundaries of the continental shelf belonging to Turkey and Greece in the Aegean have not been determined yet. Currently, neither Turkey nor Greece have a limited maritime jurisdiction in the Aegean beyond their territorial waters at a distance of 6 nautical miles. The main subject of the discussion is that the continental shelf of the Aegean Sea is between Turkey and Greece, and the areas beyond the territorial waters of the two coastal states within 6 nautical miles. Although Prof. Dr. Necmettin Erbakan Hodja made two attempts to solve this issue from the root, unfortunately; Europe did not give way to these plans. Turkey should respond with the same stiffness to Greece's outbursts.”
