Speaking at the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Karaduman stated that the olive regulation in question was against the law and said, “We express that this mistake and this distortion should be reversed as soon as possible. We will follow the matter to the end."
Felicity (Saadet) Party Konya Deputy Abdulkadir Karaduman brought the enactment of a regulation that paves the way for the destruction of olive groves to the agenda of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). Speaking at the General Assembly of the TBMM, Karaduman stated that the regulation on olives was against the law and made harsh criticisms.
“THIS REGULATION IS ILLEGAL”
Reacting to the decree published in the Official Gazette, “With a regulation, so to speak, the Olive Law was abolished and the way for the destruction of olive groves was paved. Accordingly, mining activities were allowed in the olive field. It is also illegal for the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources to issue such a regulation,” Karaduman added.
“THEIR EYES SEE NOTHING OTHER THAN RENT”
Expressing that the government has surrendered to the mining lobby, Karaduman said: “The Justice and Development Party (AKP), which served lobbies throughout its rule, has now surrendered to the mining lobby and has issued the death warrant for olives and olive groves, which are the symbol of abundance. The understanding, which sees nothing but rent, has its eyes on our olive groves, which have been a source of food and livelihood for thousands of years. We express that this mistake and this distortion should be reversed as soon as possible. We will follow the matter to the end.”
