The long-standing debates on price hikes continue in Turkey's agenda. Felicity (Saadet) Party İskenderun District President Halil İbrahim Çelik made important statements regarding the price hikes that bent the back of the citizens. Addressing the members of the press in the press statement held at the Saadet Party Iskenderun district building, Halil İbrahim Çelik especially drew attention to the effect of the increase in electricity bills on the society.
“ELECTRICITY BILLS EXCEED THE RENTAL PRICE”
Saadet Party İskenderun District President Halil İbrahim Çelik, who made statements about the hikes in a press release he organized, stated that the government should take a step back and said, “The citizen can only pay these bills with the salary he receives in the face of high bills, how the citizen makes a living? Our shopkeepers are now enraged by the hike. We have tradesmen who have closed the shop without first selling, in some workplaces, the electricity bills have exceeded the rental price. Recent hikes in electricity bills has destroyed our nation. How will a retired brother pay these bills? How will he survive after paying? And they come out and say that the state does not make these hikes. Value Added Tax (VAT) discounts are nice but insufficient. It doesn't look like this will lower the exorbitant prices. We see, prices haven't dropped. We are of the opinion that the auditing event should also be carried out more healthily.”
