Fuel prices, which are rising every day, make victims not only of citizens, but also of fuel dealers. Imran Okumus, Chairman of the Petroleum Products Employers' Union (PÜİS), stated that the increasing fuel prices are causing negative results in the sector. Stating that thousands of fuel dealers are in danger of closing due to increasing costs, Okumuş listed the demands of the sector in his written statement.

“GIVE DISCOUNT TO DEALERS”

Noting that their demands will give a breath of fresh air to both consumers and fuel dealers, Okumuş listed his suggestions as follows:

“Our first suggestion is; Distribution companies offer a discount of over 3 percent to wholesalers below refinery prices. If Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) includes the discount that is over 3 percent and is not included in the price methodology, and if the distribution companies give these discounts to the fuel dealers, not to the wholesalers, both the dealers will be relieved and this discount will be reflected on the consumer,” he said.

“DISTRIBUTORS, SHOULD PAY HALF OF THE COMMISSIONS”

“Our second suggestion; There should be two separate prices for cash and credit card sales. In EMRA legislation, there is no obligation to sell by credit card at stations. EPDK should make a regulation in this regard and dealers should not be brought face to face with consumers because they do not sell with credit cards. The Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) should make a regulation specific to the fuel sector. We share our profits with distributors as 50 percent, 50 percent. That's why distributors are required to pay half of the credit card commissions we pay,” he added.

“SHIPPING FEES SHOULD BE EXCLUDED FROM THE PROFIT SHARE”

“Our biggest grievance stems from electronic sales. These automatic sales, whose names change according to the distribution companies, offer very high discounts. We recommend that dealers be exempted from discounts of up to 10 percent from distribution companies in a period where the dealer works with a gross of 3 percent. Our last suggestion is about shipping costs. Shipping costs should be excluded from profit margins. And shipping prices should be determined on the basis of kilometers, according to regions, provinces and districts,” he said.
