The government disappointed the retiree, who did not get the raise retiree hoped for at the beginning of the year, and who was looking forward to the increase in the holiday bonus. Stating that the holiday bonus of 1,100 Turkish Liras (TL) is a big burden on the budget, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Bilgin promised that the increase is not on their agenda, but that they will make arrangements to protect the retirees in July.
HOW DOES THE MINISTER MAKE THIS MISTAKE?
While, Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Social Security, speaking about 30 percent and 25 percent raises given to retirees, said, "We gave the pensioner a raise of over 30 percent last year," saying that the reflection of the inflation difference, that is, the legal obligation of "25,48 percent", which is an inflation difference, and that brought to mind situation of the retired worker. Although the 30 percent increase, which emerged with the addition of a 2,5 percent increase on top of the 27,48 percent inflation difference, is reflected only to civil servant retirees, the fact that the government officials bring up the high figure received by some of the retired people in almost every speech is noteworthy as a perception study.
The Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Bilgin, who recently complained that the holiday bonus, which is given to the pensioner twice a year, brings a burden of 25 billion TL to the budget, now gave "good news" to the pensioner. Bilgin said, "In the next July, we will increase the lowest pension to a level that will make them smile."
Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labor and Social Security, made a press statement after visiting the provincial presidencies of Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Nationalistic Movement Party (MHP) in Isparta. Minister Bilgin said, “In the next July, we will increase the lowest pension of our retirees to a level that will make them smile. We have taken another historic step. While inflation was 36 percent, we increased the minimum wage by 50 percent," he added. Minister Bilgin continued his statements as follows:
“Therefore, there may have been some erosion as inflation increased faster today, but we evaluate and measure this within our current anti-inflation program. As a result, this issue will be discussed in the next December. When we consider it again, the society predicts that we will realize an increase in social welfare that no one expected. Because we achieved this last December, we entered the new year with a fifty percent increase in the minimum wage. Finally, we abolished the tax on all wage incomes at the minimum wage level.”
Retirement bonuses will be paid on April 27-29
The payment dates of the retirement bonuses, which are given twice a year before the religious holiday, have been determined. While the bonuses, which approximately 12 million retirees expect an improvement according to the inflation rate, ‘fall through’ with the statements of the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Bilgin, retirees will be paid 1,100 TL this holiday.
