"Conquest March" was held on the occasion of the 1384th anniversary of the conquest of Diyarbakir by the Islamic armies.
The march, which started with torches after the morning prayer from the Fetih Mosque, continued until the Solaiman Mosque.
At the event held in the mosque campus, Provincial Mufti Lütfü İmamoğlu recited prayers after the Qur'an recitation.
Governor Ali İhsan Su said in a statement that they celebrated the anniversary of the conquest with enthusiasm.
Stating that Diyarbakir is the city of the Companions and that the Islamic army conquered the city 1384 years ago, Su said, "From that date until today, the Adhan-ı Muhammedi has not been stop to be read in our city. At our minarets, the Adhan-ı Muhammed was always read. In 1071, the gates of Anatolia were opened, and Anatolia was honored with Islam. Since then, our flag with a crescent and a star, from our minarets, has never been silenced. Hopefully, our flag will not descend and our call to prayer will not stop to read until the Day of Judgment."
