Making a press statement in front of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security before the 7th Term Collective Agreement negotiations concerning public employees and retirees, Defense, Bureau and Support Services Union (SAVDES-SEN) Chairman Tuncay Cengiz made calls regarding the salaries of public employees.
INFLATION DIFFERENCES MUST BE REFLECTED EVERY MONTH
SAVDES, who made a press statement in front of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security to share with the public their views and proposals regarding the 7th Term Collective Agreement negotiations, which will determine the financial and social rights of approximately 3.7 million civil servants and 2.5 million retired civil servants, covering the years 2024-2025, "Savdes-Sen" Chairman Tuncay Cengiz said that Law No. 7456, published in the Official Gazette on the night of July 14, could not cure the problems of civil servants and retirees.
"The lowest wages of civil servants should be determined as the poverty line, the inflation differences to be reflected in semi-annual periods should be reflected monthly in inflationary environments, the tax bracket should be fixed at 15 percent, and the economic growth rates of the country should be reflected separately at the beginning of each year as a share of welfare," Cengiz said.
Emphasizing that there is a serious injustice in the salaries of civil servants, Cengiz stated that the solution to this injustice is the collective bargaining tables.
"Injustice is experienced in social benefits such as spouse and child benefits, food, clothing, transportation, bonus payments, between chiefs and officers, between classes or cadres, that is, in all areas. The solution to these injustices is the collective bargaining tables to be duly executed. I am calling out to those who have participated in the collective bargaining negotiations that have started right now, the collective bargaining table is the plague table. It is the table that should be defended properly," Cengiz added.
