Even though the inflation suppressed, it broke the record of 19 years

Inflation got out of control in December and reached double digits even on a monthly basis. Inflation, which increased by 13,58 percent in December, became 36,08 percent annually.

According to the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT), the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 13,58 percent and the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) increased by 19,08 percent on a monthly basis in December 2021.
 
Annual inflation was 36,08 percent in consumer prices and 79,89 percent in domestic producer prices.
 
Thus, consumer inflation reached the highest level of the last 19 years.
 
Considering the 12-month averages as of December 2021, consumer prices increased by 19,6 percent and domestic producer prices increased by 43,86 percent.
 
In terms of main expenditure groups, in December 2021, the groups with the highest monthly increase were calculated as transportation with 28,49 percent, household goods with 16,54 percent, food and non-alcoholic beverages with 15,99 percent, respectively.
 
In December 2021, the group with the highest monthly decline was education with 0,13 percent. This group was followed by health with 3,55 percent and communication with 3,65 percent.
 

JANUARY RENT INCREASE RATE 19,60 PERCENT

 
With the announcement of inflation figures, the rent increase rate for January was also announced. The rent increase rate, which was determined based on the twelve-month average of the CPI, was 19,60 percent for January.
 

MOST HIKE CAME FOR "WRITING AND DRAWING PAPERS"

 
On the basis of consumer prices, in December 2021, the highest price increase was seen in writing and drawing papers with 64,48 percent, and the highest price decrease was seen in cauliflower with 29,47 percent.
 
According to TURKSTAT data, the price increase in writing and drawing papers was followed by eggplant with 59 percent and cucumber with 49,76 percent last month.
 
Other products with the highest price increase in December 2021 included wheat flour with 44,08 percent, margarine with 43,87 percent, and gasoline-powered cars with 38,39 percent.
 
The highest price decrease was in cauliflower with 29,47 percent last month. This product was followed by orange with 16,32 percent, curly radish with 10,27 percent, red radish with 8,02 percent and quince with 7,33 percent.
 

ACCORDING TO ENAG'S ACCOUNTS, INFLATION EXCEEDS 80 PERCENT

 
According to the Inflation Research Group (ENAG) data, consumer prices increased by 19,35 percent on a monthly basis and by 82,81 percent in 2021. In December, the highest increase was seen in food and non-alcoholic beverages with 35,75 percent.
 

ANNUAL FOOD INFLATION INCREASED TO 43,80 PERCENT

 
The highest annual increase in CPI was seen in transportation with 53,66 percent, food and non-alcoholic beverages with 43,80 percent, and household goods with 40,95 percent.
 
The lowest annual increase was realized in the main group of communication with 8,76 percent.
 
The other main groups with a low increase compared to December 2020 were education with 17,23 percent, alcoholic beverages and tobacco with 20,02 percent, and clothing and shoes with 20,13 percent, respectively.
 
In December 2021, the average price of 18 of the 415 items included in the index decreased, while the average price of 33 remained unchanged. The average price of 364 items increased.
