While President Erdoğan announced that Turkey is looking for animals in Uruguay for red meat, it turned out that such an import was not on the agenda of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

Meat prices began to be discussed in Turkey, the meat lobby immediately stepped in!

While President Erdogan's statement that Turkey is looking for animals from Uruguay for red meat shocked the sector, it turned out that even the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry was unaware of this import.

While this situation was considered as the first signal that the import doors for meat will be reopened soon, it also revealed how strong the meat lobby is in Turkey.

ERDOĞAN MEETS WITH FARMERS

President Erdoğan met with a group of farmers in Tokat the previous day.

While the meeting with the farmers lasted approximately 1.5 hours, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Vahit Kirişci was also present at the meeting.

President Erdogan's dialogue with female trainer Tuğba Ezmeci left its mark on the agenda.

Stating that they are trying to bring animals from Uruguay for red meat, President Erdoğan noted that these animals can be bought from domestic producers, not from Uruguay, if they can be met.

"MR. VAHİT IS LOOKING FOR ANIMALS!"

"Mr. Vahit is currently looking for animals in meat farming for Turkey. Gets your animals right away. We are currently trying to bring animals from Uruguay. Indeed it is here. Of course, that 50 is not enough. We need red meat right now. Why should we buy from Uruguay? Let's finish this job by getting the animals in our own country. Let's take animals in terms of meat so that we can relieve our farmers at this point," Erdoğan said.

While these evaluations of President Erdogan revealed that the problems in livestock were not communicated to him, imports from Uruguay also fell on the agenda like a bomb.

While imports from Uruguay were not even on the agenda of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, President Erdogan's announcement that Turkey was looking for animals from Uruguay for red meat brought the meat lobby to the agenda.

“THERE IS NO IMPORT SUBJECT FROM URUGUAY ON THE AGENDA!”

According to the information received from the sources of the Ministry, it is stated that an animal import from Uruguay is not on the agenda at the moment, and it is noted that although there is a decision taken by the Presidency on this issue, it has not been conveyed to the Ministry yet.

This situation brought to mind the opening of import doors right after, although Minister Mehdi Eker stated that meat import was not on their agenda in 2008, and it also revealed the existence of a meat lobby above even the Ministry.

ERDOĞAN FORGOTTEN THE PROMISE OF THE GOVERNMENT!

On the other hand, President Erdogan's statement that Turkey is looking for animals from Uruguay for red meat brought up a bitter truth once again.

Former Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli, who was dismissed, announced that Turkey will gradually import livestock until 2022, but that the importation of livestock will be terminated as of 2022 and all policies have been determined accordingly.

At this point, Erdogan's statement that he was looking for animals from Uruguay for red meat revealed that the promises made by the government regarding the import of livestock in the past were also empty.
