Felicity (Saadet) Party Ankara Provincial President Atty. Fatih Beyazıt made evaluations on the agenda with his statement. Referring to the increasing food prices, especially the economy, and the successive hikes, Beyazıt said that the government ignores the distressing process of the citizens. Beyazıt stated that although there are 9 months left until 2023, which the government gives as the promised date for every opportunity, the citizens are in serious poverty and said, “Almost every day, there is an hike in oil, bread, gas, gasoline and many other products. The cost of living is increasing. The hikes are twisting the citizens' backs. We are entering an increasingly difficult period. According to Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT), inflation increased by 4,81 percent monthly in February, while it increased by 54 percent on an annual basis. But Inflation Research Group (ENAG) calculated the annual inflation rate as 123 percent. In the bazaar market, we used to see that the citizens buy fruits and vegetables with grains, but at this point, we witness that the citizen cannot buy even a single product and unfortunately falls into trouble.”

“WE ARE GOING WORSE DAY BY DAY”

Stating that citizens are brooding over how they will pay the increased electricity and natural gas bills, “Citizens are brooding over how to pay their electricity and natural gas bills. The prices of bread, the most basic product, have skyrocketed. As of March 2, 250 grams of bread produced by ‘Ankara Halk Ekmek’ (cheap bread sold by Municipality) has been increased from 1,25 Turkish Liras (TL) to 2 TL. 230 grams of bread costs 2,25 TL in the ovens. Bakers also say that the new price hike is on the way. In the past days, citizens waited in line for hours for the oil that Agricultural Products Office (TMO) sold for half the price in Ankara. When people see bread queues, I think of ‘old Turkey’ sugar and oil queues. But no one sees, no one hears, no one at all solves the queues. We are faced with an economic understanding that is getting worse day by day. Worst of all, we are faced with a government that does not accept this bad course. Those who talk about the old Turkey, ignore the highest inflation rate in the last 28 years,” Beyazıt added.
