Ömer Doğan, Chairman of the All Experts and Retirees Association (TUZED), made evaluations about the problems of the expert sergeants.

Stating that specialist sergeants should be transferred to active-duty status and gain professional security, Doğan said that they also want the retired personnel to be given a decent degree.

“NOT ONE LIRA TO THE MINISTRY'S BUDGET”

Ömer Doğan, Chairman of the All Experts and Pensioners Association (TUZED), in his press statement, "Around 200,000 sergeants are working in the Turkish Armed Forces. Our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and our Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar have not remained indifferent to our problems and difficulties. Now, we want our sergeants to be assigned to active duty status and to have professional security. Professional security of sergeants does not burden the budget of the Ministry of National Defense even a lira. Thus, the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) will not be deprived of its qualified personnel," he said.

“IN 2016, NON-CO-COMMANDERS WERE GIVEN EQUAL GRADE”

Stating that the expert sergeants worked with contracts and became permanent martyrs, Doğan said, "We expect and demand that master sergeants be transferred to active duty status. Our state gave a high degree to our non-commissioned officers who retired in 2016 and could not be promoted to the first degree, and paved the way for the personnel who could not fall to a degree. We, too, demand that our expert sergeant brothers be given a decent degree to our retired, officially retired friends who are victims of Law No. 6000. After 3600 additional indicators are given to sergeants, the salaries of retired third-, fourth-rank sergeants will remain very low. This will cause the personnel to experience grievances with their families and loved ones. In order to prevent this, we demand that our government give special sergeants and retired sergeants a one-off degree."

“OUR FAMILIES CANNOT BENEFIT IT”

Stating that the sergeants were assigned duties other than the purpose of recruitment, "This has a negative impact on staff morale and motivation. We do not want the sergeants to be assigned duties other than the purpose of recruitment. Apart from this, the training period of the sergeants at the school is very short, not sufficient, and we demand that the sergeants be trained for at least one year within the scope of the National Defense University. The absence of an appointment regulation, the fact that sergeants' seniority marks are not counted as rank, and that we and our families cannot benefit from social facilities and army houses cause great difficulties," he added.
