Felicity (Saadet) Party Deputy Chairman Şerafettin Kılıç, held a press conference and made statements about current issues.

12.7 PERCENT OF THE BUDGET WILL GO TO INTEREST

Kılıç made evaluations for the budget negotiations of 2020 and said, "The budget size is 1 trillion 95.5 billion TL. Budget revenues were 956.6 billion TL and budget deficit was 138.9 billion TL. The share of tax revenues in the budget revenues projected as 956.6 billion TL is 82 percent. The share of budget deficit in the budget is 12.7 percent. The share of investments in the budget is 5.2 percent. The share allocated to interest is 13 percent."

A VERY PAINFUL TABLE

Stating that they are faced with a very painful picture, Kılıç said, "It is very painful that the share allocated to investment is not even half the share allocated to interest payments. The budget reveals that our country cannot get rid of the interest scourge that has been exploited for years. A decrease in the interest black hole in budget expenditures is not foreseen. The resources collected from the public through tax will be transferred to rent via interest as in the previous years."

"A FAR BUDGET TO THE PROBLEM OF THE UNEMPLOYMENT"

Kılıç drew attention to the fact that the government cannot invest in the budget and that the budgetary resources will be used in populist expenditures and underlined that there is no investment environment in the country. Emphasizing that there is a serious trust problem in the market, Kılıç said:

"One of the reasons why the economic crisis and unemployment hit bottom is that the government does not make public investment. Normally, the share of investment in the budget should be at least 20-25 percent. The 2020 budget documents that nothing has changed for the citizen, despite the pink paintings attempted to be shown in the economy. When we look at the 2020 budget, we see that it is a budget that does not cure unemployment. It is clear that the minimum wage is a budget far from producing solutions to the problems of workers, civil servants, retirees and unemployed people."

"TAX JUSTICE MUST BE PROVIDED"

Kılıç underlined that the 2020 budget is no longer a remedy for the chronic economic crisis. Adequate resources should be allocated to public investments and services, policies that increase employment in real terms should be implemented, justice should be provided by reducing the rate of indirect taxes, and wage policies that meet the basic needs of employees should be implemented easily.
