Köroğlu, stated that it is not known how many acres of land sold in TRNC territory reached in total. Köroğlu noted that foreigners are buying real estate by exceeding the law and using tricky ways.
"According to our laws, a person can only buy a certain amount of land or 2 flats, subject to the permission of the Council of Ministers. But if you establish a company, there is no problem in buying acres or countless real estate by using legal loopholes by establishing various schemes on that company. Even though there are such laws and security filters, it is not known how many decares of land sold in TRNC lands through various deceitful tricks and tricky business that will be harmful in the future," Köroğlu said.
“THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT TAKING ANY STEPS”
Speaking to our newspaper, Teksen Köroğlu stated that the occupation in Northern Cyprus should be prevented before it causes bigger troubles for the TRNC state and the Turkish Cypriot community.
Köroğlu stated that the TRNC government did not take any steps despite the news in the press.
"The government cannot control this, it does not know how much land is sold and who buys it. It is constantly questioned whether there is a concentration in strategic regions and especially a concentration of foreigners from certain nationalities, but for some reason the government officials do not make a transparent explanation for this. In order to correctly answer questions about land sales and speculations, if any, we first need real numbers and rates. Our calls to reveal the regional and provincial distribution of land sales are not taken into account at all," Köroğlu added.
“EVEN THE MOST AUTHORIZED OFFICIALS AGREE IT”
"If it continues like this, we will be foreigners in our own land, we will be tourists. State administrators who violate laws and rules just because it is the government's wish should not forget that they will be tried as criminals when the day comes. In order to correctly answer questions about land sales and speculations, if any, we first need real numbers and rates. First of all, the government needs to reveal the regional and provincial distribution of land sales. We do not know whether the state has a database on lands sold to real and legal persons. The most authorized voices in the government said, 'There are gaps in the law regarding property purchases by foreigners. They are using this' is proof of the magnitude of the danger," Köroğlu said.
“THE ISSUE MUST BE SOLVED URGENTLY”
Teksen Köroğlu also called out to the Turkish government to prevent the Zionist occupation in TRNC.
Stating that we are facing a security problem for TRNC and Türkiye, Köroğlu said, "In the last 15 years, the increasing weaknesses and failures of the TRNC State-run governments have reached levels that pose great dangers to the purpose and structure of the state, social welfare and culture. The allegations made about TRNC land and real estate sales, especially in the northern coastline, need to be taken seriously and urgently."
