"Hak-İş" Confederation Chairman Mahmut Arslan met with journalists at the traditional press performance of their confederation. Speaking before iftar meal, Arslan made important evaluations about his working life.

“WE WILL BE ON THE SQUARES OF 81 CITIES”

Arslan started his speech by talking about the 1 May activities held by the Confederations between 25 April and 1 May.

"We will celebrate May 1 all over Turkey in accordance with its purpose and spirit. We will meet with the workers in the squares of our 81 provinces, in our workplaces, and share the May 1 statement with the public," Arslan said.

“THERE MUST BE INCREASE IN WAGES”

Calling the government for the additional raise that the minimum wage earners are eagerly waiting for, Arslan demanded a raise above the inflation rate.

"While the Minimum Wage Determination Commission determined the minimum wage in December, some criteria were considered. In addition to these criteria, political will was also involved and the new minimum wage was determined by giving a raise above the inflation rate. When we come to July, we think that the same approach is fair to set a new minimum wage with an increase of more than ten, taking into account the 6-month increase in inflation," Arslan added.

CONFEDERATIONS MUST WORK TOGETHER

Arslan emphasized that the three workers' confederations would work together in case the Minimum Wage Determination Commission meets again in July.

"Let's make our call to both Türk-İş and DİSK from here, we are here to fight together for the common problems of the employees, especially the minimum wage, and to work resolutely to solve the problems," he said.
