While the existing teacher shortage continues to be filled by paid teaching, the system implemented frequently comes to the fore with mistakes.
In the list of paid teachers assigned to a district of Van, it was revealed that the paid teachers did not have a bachelor's degree or a faculty of education degree.

“IS THIS WAY OF EDUCATION POSSIBLE?”
Levent Atasoy, President of the Paid Teachers Solidarity Association, stated that the inadequacy of their training was revealed in the list of paid teachers assigned to a district of Van, and stated that the system implemented was a problem.
"In this way, the teaching profession is being trampled on and cheap workers are employed under the name of teachers paid for pennies. None of these people have a bachelor's degree or a faculty of education degree. These are also assigned as classroom teachers, that is, in primary schools. Is this kind of education possible? As an association, we convey this to you, the authorities and leaders. The state employs people who do not even have teaching qualifications as cheap workers. This application is wrong. This picture is shameful for education," Atasoy said.
“IT THREATENS EDUCATION”
Recalling the data on paid teachers published by Turkish Education, Training and Scientific Services Branch Public Employees Union (Türk Eğitim-Sen), Atasoy pointed out that most of the assigned paid teachers are not graduates of the faculty of education.
"According to Turkish Education-Sen data, the number of teachers assigned as paid teachers in 2023-2024 is 66 thousand 780 for 71 provinces. Ten provinces sent this number, together with these, it is seen that this number is over 80 thousand. The highest paid teacher assignment is Istanbul with 17 thousand 411. 3 thousand 381 people Ankara. 3 thousand 379 Bursa. 3 thousand 105 Izmir. It is seen that many people appointed as paid teachers are not graduates of education faculty. This situation poses a serious threat to education," Atasoy added.
“PAID TEACHERS ARE READY TO WORK”
Underlining that the applied system should be changed, Atasoy stated that the substitute teaching system should be introduced instead of paid teaching.
"What needs to be done is to appoint the substitute teaching system and paid teachers who have worked for 5, 10, 15 years, which we call veterans, to places that are not preferred and benefit from their experience. Many permanent teachers do not work or do not want to work in the border and eastern regions, which are not preferred. Experienced paid teachers are ready to work here as permanent staff for many years," Atasoy said.
