Bulgarian tourists, who flocked to Edirne from the early hours of the morning after Bulgaria abolished the PCR test requirement when entering the country from Turkey, filled the Ulus Market and the parking lot, and there was no place to take a step. Stating that the prices in the market are very cheap, Bulgarian citizens said that they come at every opportunity, meet all their needs from Edirne, and even fill the diesel from Edirne!

There is no place to take a step this week in the Ulus Bazaar, which is established every Friday in Edirne and has become the center of attention especially for tourists from Bulgaria. Bulgarian citizens, who were on their way to the market as of 05:00 in the morning, also filled the parking lot. Bulgarian tourists, who meet all their needs from Edirne to food, clothing, glassware, furniture and even gasoline, have started to flock to Edirne again after the PCR test requirement for their return from Turkey was abolished. Ulus Bazaar parking lot officer Adem Şahin said, “Our parking lot was full at 5:30 in the morning. They keep on coming. Our car park is full, even outside, there is no space left. Since the parking lot is full, they are trying to find a place on the opposite side outside, and we are helping them.”

“BULGARIANS FILLED THE MARKET FROM 5 IN THE MORNING”

Ali Kotan, a market tradesman from Tekirdag, said, “As of 5 in the morning, citizens from Bulgaria filled our market. This week is busier than last week. If it goes on like this, both the tradesmen of Edirne and the market tradesmen will gain financially. We can say that the tourists coming from Bulgaria became the lifeline of the tradesmen."

“WE ARE FILLING THE FUEL AND GOING”

Ahmet Emilov, who came to shop from Bulgaria, said, “We are very pleased with Edirne. We came last week too. This week we will get our necessities again. We were here again 2 years ago. I come to Edirne immediately at every opportunity. We get all our needs such as food, drink, textile, household goods from Edirne, not from Istanbul. We take everything we need.” Stating that the prices in the market are very cheap, Bulgarian Mehmet Ali Rasim, one of the citizens, “We come to the market once a month, we buy everything from here. We buy clothes, we buy suits for the children, we fill the diesel from here. Everything is fine,” he said. One of the market tradesmen, Yusuf Kul, who said that there was both Bulgarian and Greek activity in the market this week, stated that besides the citizens from Bulgaria, there were also customers from Greece in the market this week.
