TÜRK-İŞ Confederation Chairman Ergün Atalay spoke at the opening of the "Women's Studies Meeting" held at TÜRK-İŞ Confederation Headquarters. Emphasizing that employees have problems with income tax and that they will continue to raise these issues until they are resolved, Atalay said: “For example, a tax deduction of 630 TL is made in January for a worker who receives a wage of 10,000 TL, while his wages are deducted by 1,900 TL in September-October. This is not sustainable. The wage given to the worker in January should also be given in December. We are talking about this tax issue, but the Treasury Minister does not hear it or does not see it. The tax issue is unbearable and a solution needs to be found.”
“NEW REGULATION REGARDING ORGANIZATION IS NECESSARY”
Expressing that there are serious obstacles in front of union organization, Atalay continued: “In our country, union organization is at the level of 14 percent. In 86 percent of workers, are not organized. When unions want to organize in a workplace, employers immediately put the workers in front of the door or they are mobbing the workers. It was yesterday and it is today. Employees should not be left at the mercy of employers. We want politicians from any party to support unionization.”
