The February results of the "Hunger Limit and Poverty Line Survey" that ‘Türk-İş’ Labour Union has calculated regularly every month for 35 years, a pioneer in this field, have been announced. Accordingly, the last twelve months' kitchen inflation has been 66 percent, while the poverty line has exceeded 15,000 Turkish Liras (TL). The new minimum wage, which workers have only just begun to receive, remained below the hunger limit. According to the results of the research, the hunger limit of a family of four increased to 4,552 TL and the poverty line to 15,139 TL in February. According to the results of the research, which reveals that the inflation in the kitchen is increasing day by day, the increase in the kitchen inflation was 7,12 percent in February, while the twelve-month increase was 66,38 percent.
RUSSIA-UKRAINE CRISIS MAY CAUSE PRICES TO RISE
In the research published by ‘Türk-İş’ Labour Union, evaluations on the economic impact of the crisis in Russia and Ukraine, where there were hot conflicts, were also included. The following statements were included in the evaluation:
“Imports from Russia and Ukraine Experts stated that the supply of products such as wheat, barley, soybean, corn, sunflower, etc., which started in the days of the preparation of this research, could lead to an increase in the prices of flour, bread, eggs, meat and vegetable oils in our country in the coming months, if precautions are not taken due to the military operation.”
