Economic problems in Turkey caused households and tradesmen to get into a deep bottleneck. In addition to the daily news of the hike, the depreciation of the Turkish Liras (TL) decreased the purchasing power of the citizens. In this regard, a press release came from the Association of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (ESDER) Malatya Branch. In the press statement published on behalf of ESDER Malatya Branch President Soydoğdu, it was pointed out that the economic difficulties forced the limits of endurance.

“ECONOMY IS COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL”

Pointing out that the economic instability has been going on for years, ESDER Malatya Branch President Soydoğdu said, “As a result of the system change, since 2018, the management power has moved away from institutionalism and gathered in the president, so the ministries have lost their function and the principle of merit has left its place to the principle of loyalty in the bureaucracy. For this reason, especially the worsening situation in the economy, with the effect of the pandemic that has been experienced since 2020, has led to the growth of problems in our country as well as all over the world. Finally, in September 2021, the theory of 'interest cause, inflation result', which has no scientific basis, caused the exchange rate to explode, and the economy got completely out of control.”

“INFLATION MUST BE DRAWN TO REASONABLE LEVELS”

Referring to the wrong policies implemented in agriculture, Ahmet Soydoğdu added, “Reviving agriculture, which has been ignored for 20 years, restricting the import of agricultural products, subsidizing the basic inputs of the farmer such as seeds, fertilizers and diesel, supporting animal husbandry with the right incentives, supporting milk and meat livestock instead of animal imports are required. It is necessary to increase the purchasing power of the citizens and to bring inflation to reasonable levels as soon as possible in order to support our tradesmen, who are the backbone of our commercial life, with interest-free loans and incentives, to subsidize the main cost elements, and most importantly, to revive the markets.”
