While the students staying in Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK) dormitory are struggling with already shrinking portions and high prices, they are surprised by the new hikes. The students, who receives government support of 6 TL for breakfast and 13 TL for dinner in KYK dormitory, complain about the high food prices, and are startled by the new price hikes in their meals.
SOME VARIETIES ARE NOT AVAILABLE AFTER PRICE INCREASES
On the other hand, it is noteworthy that some varieties are not given after the new hikes in KYK dormitories due to the skyrocketing prices. Given for breakfast before, the bagel (simit), bun and toast are not given due to high prices. This situation also reveals how much the purchasing power of students has decreased.
THE SCHOLARSHIP IS THE SAME BUT MEAL PRICES CONTINUOUSLY INCREASE
While the students staying in KYK dormitory receive a total of 19 TL in the morning and evening, the amount of scholarship a student receives from the state is 650 TL. While a raise is expected in the new year in scholarship, the increase in food prices before the scholarship amount increased, caused be given in. While a student used to pay 9 TL for the main dish, with the new increase, he-she has to pay 9.5 TL. Students, who previously paid 4 TL for rice, pasta, soup and dessert, will give 4,25 TL with the new hikes.
