Before the election, base pensions were increased to 7,500 Turkish Lira with the support of the Treasury.

Then, with the 25 percent increase in July only reaching the root salary, millions of retirees did not receive any raises.

The 5,000 lira bonus given to retirees for the 100th anniversary of the Republic and the discrimination between working and non-working retirees caused reactions.

The government announced that this bonus will also be given to working retirees. Retirees are eagerly waiting for the increase in their salaries next January.

Reacting to the fact that the 5,000 TL bonus given to working retirees was divided into working and non-working retired people, All Pensioners' Union Chairman Zeynel Abidin Ergen pointed out that the government decided to give this bonus to working retirees due to the public opinion.

"The government decided to pay 5,000 TL to working retirees, thinking that this would be the end of the matter. This decision is important. Even though the decision has not become official yet, what needs to be done will be done," Ergen said.

IT WILL CAUSE A NEW VICTIMIZATION

Drawing attention to the 25 percent increase in pensions in July, Ergen stated that the 8 thousand 77 TL increase given to civil servants should also be given to retirees.

"We no longer demand 3.5 thousand TL raises, but humane living conditions. Therefore, the lowest pension and the lowest civil servant salaries should be indexed. We do not think that the root salary that emerged after 2008, when salaries decreased significantly, is correct. Again, thousands of retirees will not benefit from the increase in the basic salary. A new victimization will be caused," Ergen added.
