Let alone the words of the government officials, "We will not crush the citizens against high prices," basic consumer products increased by 50 percent in the 6-month period.

The market basket, which was 480 TL in December 2021 for the basic food products that we follow at regular intervals as Milli Gazete, is filled to 671 TL in June.

THE RISE OF OIL PRICES CONTINUES WITHOUT STOPPING

OIL prices are on the agenda this year as well as last year. 5 liters of liquid sunflower oil, which was sold at the lowest 100 TL in December 2021, has increased from 145 TL in June, while 1 liter of liquid sunflower oil was sold from 40 TL 6 months ago, now it has increased to 58 TL. 1 liter of olive oil, which was sold at 34.50 TL in December, is now sold at 57.50 TL. While the kilogram of butter, which has become a luxury due to its price, was sold for 70 TL in December, it reached 100 TL in June.

CHICKEN MEAT PRICES INCREASED NEARLY 2 TIMES

Chicken meat, which is the protein source of low-income citizens, has now become a luxury. Chicken meat, which has increased almost twice in a 6-month period, reveals how much the purchasing power of the citizens has decreased. Accordingly, the chicken, whose weight price was 21 TL last December, is sold at 39.50 today. While the liter price of milk, which we do not miss from the kitchens, was 13.50 TL in December, it has increased to 19.50 TL today. Depending on milk prices, a 2.5-kg bucket of yogurt was sold for 18 TL 6 months ago, but in June it became 23.70 TL.

RECORD HIGH FOR FLOUR AND SUGAR

While 5 kilos of sugar, the champion of the last period, were sold for 37.50 TL in December 2021, 2 kilos are now sold for 42.75 TL.

While the hikes in bread prices have not ceased, the continuous rise in flour prices has been on Turkey's agenda for months. Accordingly, 5 kilograms of flour, which is constantly on the agenda with price hikes, was sold for 38 TL last December, but now it is on the shelves for 41.5 TL. Eggs are perhaps the only product on the market shelves whose price has decreased in the 6-month period. While the weight of tea, which has come to the fore with the price increase in the past weeks, was sold for 37.50 TL in December, it has reached 50 TL in June.

In Turkey, where almost every product from A to Z has increased, even tomato paste prices have started to rise. A standard box of tomato paste, which is 8 TL in December, is sold for 9.70 TL as of June. While 1 kilo of red lentils was sold at 12.75 6 months ago, today it has increased to 18.10 TL. While the price of 1 kilo of dry beans was 13.75 TL 6 months ago, it has become 16.50 TL as of June.
