Anatolian Education Union (AES) conducted a survey on the occasion of November 24, Teachers' Day. While 5 thousand 491 teachers participated in the survey, the main problem of teachers is making a living.

Commenting on the survey, AES Chairman Mehmet Alper Öğretici called for the results to be taken into consideration.

Regarding the salaries received in the survey, the question "Is your salary enough to support your family?" was answered by 79 percent as "not enough", while 54.57 percent of teachers worked in additional jobs to avoid making ends meet.

THE RATIO OF TEACHERS WHO PAY 25 TO 50 PERCENT OF THEIR SALARY ON RENTAL IS 43.1 PERCENT

In the survey, it was stated that 34.6 percent of teachers live in rented accommodation, and attention was also drawn to the increase in rents.

While 17.9 percent of teachers living on rent stated that they paid half of their salaries for rent, it was noted that the rate of teachers who paid between 25 and 50 percent of their salaries for rent was 43.1 percent.

36.4 percent of teachers who own their own homes stated that their installment payments continue.

In the survey, which stated that teachers' expectations for November 24 were a salary bonus, 98.4 percent of teachers pointed out that giving a salary bonus on the occasion of Teachers' Day was the gift that would make them happiest.

“OUR TEACHERS' VOICE MUST BE HEARD”

Evaluating the results of the survey conducted on teachers, AES Chairman Mehmet Alper Öğretici pointed out that the survey results should be taken into consideration and said, "It is a shame for our country when our teachers cannot provide for their families and earn nearly the lowest wage among undergraduates in the country. The vast majority of our teachers who participated in the survey say that their salary is not enough to support their families. In particular, authorities should truly value our teachers who educate future generations, not just for show; They should not ignore their situation."
