Democrat Party (DP) Chairman Gültekin Uysal met with Ankara representatives of press organizations in Ankara. At the meeting, while pointing out the election calendar regarding the candidate, Uysal said, “I do not believe that the candidate will be announced until the election calendar starts.”

Uysal stated that no procedural decision was taken regarding the nomination of candidates in the last meeting of the Six Opposition Parties, and pointed out the election calendar regarding the candidacy process.
“WE SHARED OUR OPINION ON CHOOSING THE CANDIDATE FROM THE TABLE”
Speaking about the nomination issue, Uysal pointed out that the candidate to be determined should be a person with political responsibility and said, “There is a process that matures gradually. As a party, when we evaluate it from our own side, it has to be a person who has political responsibility and claims to act. These people are also the leaders of the parties. We don't just focus on people. The opposition has very effective human resources. We recommend that the staff be shared with the public along with the candidate. It is through the common candidate to reflect the preference of the society to the maximum number of ballot boxes. Chief executives have embraced this idea. Today, we all prefer it to be a common candidate. There is a great responsibility. It is the expectation of our nation. That expectation is our guide. The process is managed in order to meet that expectation. I am positive about the common candidate point. From this perspective, we shared our opinion that the candidate should be one of the leaders of the political parties, and I would like to share it today as well.”
“WE PREPARED A NEW LAW ON THE HEADSCARF”
Referring to the constitutional proposal regarding the headscarf, Uysal pointed out that the government should also approach the proposals from the opposition without prejudice and said, “We have evaluated the submission of a new proposal on the headscarf issue. It will become clear next week.”
