Türk-İş Chairman Ergün Atalay, who visited the Soma district of Manisa, pointed out in his statement that the courts have not made a heart-warming decision in the 10 years since the Soma mining disaster.

Regarding the minimum wage, he emphasized the necessity of a regulation in the tax system. Atalay stated that the promises made regarding the subcontracted staff issue were forgotten and said, "Subcontractors have become a trouble for the country."

Türk-İş Chairman Ergün Atalay, who visited the Soma district of Manisa to make some contacts, pointed out that 10 years have passed since the accident in Soma in which 301 mine workers were martyred, and criticized the lack of a result that would reassure the miners' relatives.

Atalay also made statements regarding both the minimum wage and subcontractor staff regulations.

Drawing attention to the 10 years that have passed since the mining accident in Soma, Atalay stated that the case regarding the accident will be examined by the Constitutional Court.

"We are victims here. 301 of our brothers have children and families. Now the case is in the Constitutional Court. Courts solve problems in the world, unfortunately, courts create problems in our country. Every time we say 'Let this be the last time', unfortunately it is not the last time. The children of these brothers and sisters were 1 year old then, and now they are 10 years old. Law protects women and labor all over the world. This is an unwritten rule. Almost the entire society is disturbed by the decision made regarding this. Therefore, the Constitutional Court should examine this decision in detail as soon as possible. Let's look ahead," Atalay said.

“A REGULATION IS REQUIRED IN THE TAX SYSTEM”

Reminding that the minimum wage has been determined twice a year for the last two years, Atalay underlined that the reason is inflation. Atalay reminded their decision regarding the minimum wage that all four minimum wage earners will participate in the commission.

"The main problem with minimum wage is tax. A regulation needs to be made and fixed regarding this issue. This year, there will be four minimum wage workers at that table. They will tell the commission how they cannot live with this money. We will determine this in the commission at the end of November. If you vote 'yes' on the minimum wage now and sign it, you will receive the increased minimum wage on the first of February. There are currently about two and a half months until the first of February. Until then, there is no point in talking before the time comes. It is necessary to talk in time," Atalay added.

“IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO ENSURE INTERNAL PEACE WITH SUBCONTRACTORS”

Reminding the promises of both the opposition and the government regarding the subcontractor staff issue before the elections, Atalay stated that the subcontractor issue was not discussed after the elections.

"Today, this subcontractor issue exists everywhere in the Highways Department and the Ministry of Energy. One of the workers working in the same place gets a bonus, the other does not, one eats and the other does not. One has social rights, the other does not. It is not possible to find peace here and achieve inner peace here. When you look at Soma, it is a place full of workers on all four sides. Here the subcontractor became a trouble for the country. What is a subcontractor? Whatever the government costs today, let them give it to our workers and we will sign under it," Atalay said.
